Phil leads his teams with a proactive sense of urgency, because he knows customers always have alternatives. He is a leader who encourages questioning the status quo, while requiring accountability to achieve operational efficiency, consistent financial performance and profitable growth.
Throughout his career, Phil has proven the ability to attract and mentor highly productive teams. He has led them in the execution of aggressive, multi-faceted strategic initiatives to deliver the company mission. “Strategy deployment is the process that gives life to a strategic plan—it is the differentiator that separates a great company from the rest.”
Phil earned his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University and an MBA also from Marquette. He resides in Colgate, Wisconsin, is married to wife Karen and has two children.
Outside of Hayes, he can be found traveling the Midwest to watch his daughter play collegiate soccer or coaching his son on the baseball diamond. He enjoys golfing with his wife—who regularly scores better than he does. To blow off steam, he looks forward to a good trail ride in the summer or winter and is excited to pilot one of the many Hayes equipped mountain bikes or snowmobiles in its demo fleet.

Bean counter, numbers cruncher, money dude…in his more than 30 years of diverse financial and management experience, Rod’s heard just about every clever (and not so clever) term for financial officer.
But he’s quick to tell you that his experience is more than financial. He’s also been in operations management, product development, sales, marketing and distribution strategy. “I feel the best financial officers have a fully rounded perspective. I know our business from all aspects. So, when I make a decision or give advice, it usually reflects what’s best for the entire company, not necessarily just the bottom line.”
Rod holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from the University of Wisconsin and is also a CPA. In his free time, he likes to sharpen the right side of his brain with art and cultural outings. Not surprising given his penchant for being an all-around guy.
Vice President & GM Hayes Bicycle Group
For a guy who started out in our engineering test labs as an intern, Darren’s come a long way.
Throughout his time here, he’s been involved in everything from design to production to marketing. Today, he runs the highly successful Hayes Bicycle Group. And his versatile background serves him well as he helps shape all aspects of each of the five brands.
Darren doesn’t mind being underestimated. Maybe because he knows his passion, experience and work ethic will ultimately win the day. “Growing up in rural Wisconsin working on farms, meat plants and other grunt jobs, you learn to take nothing for granted. Just keep your nose down, work hard and good things will happen.” Call it the extra gear that good cyclists possess.
Darren holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering and an MBA from UW-Milwaukee. He is married with two children.
Director of Operations
Todd has a successful track record in Lean transformations for domestic and internationally-based companies. His Lean journey began almost 30 years ago at a brake manufacturing company in Simsbury, Connecticut.
With a true passion for employee involvement/development, Lean transformation and waste elimination at small, medium and large cap organizations, he consulted to manufacturing companies in Canada, Mexico and several US States. Over the past 10 years, his Operational Excellence expertise has expanded by using these tools: Hoshin-Kanri, Strategy Deployment “X” Matrix, Value Stream Mapping, CAPA 8D, DMAIC Process and KPI Metrics.
Todd brings 30+ years of manufacturing expertise including three, new plant start-ups – with two of them being Tier-One Automotive plants. His lean education began in 1989 and continued through 1992 studying under his (3) Sensei’s from the Shingitsu Consulting Group, of Osaka, Japan. His ongoing learning and application of Lean and world-class Manufacturing Excellence has taken him to several manufacturing locations within Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico, China, Taiwan as well as many US States. In the US, he worked with several distinguished lean practitioners and authors.
Outside of Hayes, Todd’s passion is his family, golf, travel and taking care of his property with his John-Deere tractor. Todd and his wife have one daughter who currently has a PhD in Neuroscience and is now working on completion of her MD degree at the University of Queensland, Australia.
VP of Human Resources & General Counsel
Lou Ann has over 20 years of professional legal experience and a very diverse background relating to complex revenue contracts, litigation, liability risk management, supply agreements and licensing. She spent eight years as Senior Counsel for Metso Minerals Industries, and has been with various local law firms. She holds a J.D. Degree from the University of WI Law School and received her B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
VP of Sales & Marketing
Prior to joining Hayes, Doug served as Sr. Director of Operations for Generac Power Systems. Prior to that, he worked for two divisions of the Enovation Controls Company as a Director of Operations and Director of Quality and Customer Service. His past endeavors also include working as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt for several years at Mercury Marine. He received his Master’s Degree in Engineering, with an emphasis in Manufacturing Systems Engineering, from UW-Madison.
Director of Quality & Purchasing
Peter brings deep knowledge, fresh business perspective, and an eagerness to introduce new technologies in automotive and military markets at Hayes. To say his career is built on vehicle brake systems and brake product knowledge is an understatement. He has held technical and leadership roles covering brake systems development and delivery from all angles, including: mechanical design and integration, advanced materials, and embedded software. Peter has over 20 years of vehicle brake systems and brake products development programs and delivery experience. His experiences have been acutely interwoven with opportunities and passions to support and improve quality and supply chain systems; which shapes his latest mission at Hayes.
He is a solid fit with the enthusiast culture at Hayes – he enjoys ‘anything that gets me outdoors or deep into the woods to explore’. While snowmobiles, ATVs, and even tractors, have been long time go-to’s, his latest chapter in life includes time with his wife and two children, all now riding their own dirt bikes.
Peter earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
Director of Marketing
Linda brings a breadth of knowledge and creativity to Hayes with a true passion for manufacturing; she served on the Board of Directors for Women in Manufacturing Wisconsin in 2017 and is active in industry-driven networking groups. Prior to Hayes, Linda was the Marketing Director at Vive, LLC where she drove effective brand development, excitement, and awareness for multiple small to mid-sized manufacturers. Linda takes immense pride in her authentic leadership style, Lean principles and the integration of the Hayes Business System into her day-to-day activities.
Aside from her knack for event planning, Linda enjoys playing and officiating volleyball; she was a 4-year Division II collegiate athlete as well as a Club volleyball coach/personal skills trainer.
She earned a BS in Business Management/Marketing from UW-Parkside.
General Manager, Taiwan & China
Kendrew has more than 20 years of experience with Taiwanese/Chinese and US multinational companies in a variety of management positions including project management, sales & marketing, procurement and manufacturing.
Kendrew holds a Bachelor’s degree from NTU Taiwan and an M.B.A from UOW Australia. He was an Advance Data Analyst and associate lecturer of Marketing Research and Strategy at UOW prior to joining the private sector.
Kendrew is a polyglot and can converse in 7 languages, and enjoys riding his mountain bike on weekends.
